CAUSA PORTUGUESA AWARD

Past Causa Portuguesa Award Recipients

Nominations for the “CAUSA PORTUGUESA” award are now open and must be received in sealed envelopes at the U.P.E.C. Home Office, 1120 East 14th Street, San Leandro, California, 94577, by February 15, 2008.

Nominees need not be members of U.P.E.C. and will be judged on their merits and contributions to the betterment of the Portuguese people and their culture in California or Nevada. A panel of judges will be formed with individuals from the professional, fraternal and civic fields and shall be appointed by the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of U.P.E.C.

Nominees’ qualifications:

Have contributed to the good name of the Portuguese people.

Rendered services to enhance the prestige of Portuguese in California or Nevada without compensation.

Of good moral character and high esteem in their community.

Be a member of organized Portuguese groups formed to promote Portuguese culture and traditions in California or Nevada.

Be active in civic projects (promoter or participant) resulting in good relationship between Portuguese and Americans.

Nominations must include:

Three letters of endorsement.

A list of the accomplishments of the nominee.

Newspaper clippings and any material evidencing and supporting the nomination.

Please look for a nominee in your locality, deserving of this recognition. Nominee need not be a member of the U.P.E.C. nor of Portuguese descent, as long as he has contributed to the well being of the Portuguese in California or Nevada.

A $500.00 donation will be made to the charity of choice of the recipient.

Excluded from the nomination process are UPEC employees, Supreme Officers and Past Supreme Presidents.

PRÉMIO “CAUSA PORTUGUESA”

As candidaturas para o prémio “CAUSA PORTUGUESA” estão já abertas e poderão ser remetidas, em envelope fechado, para a sede da U.P.E.C., 1120 East 14th St., San Leandro, CA 94577,até ao dia 15 de Fevereiro de 2008 Os candidatos não têm que ser membros da U.P.E.C. e serão unicamente julgados pelos seus méritos e contributos para o engrandecimento do povo Português e da sua cultura na Califórnia ou Nevada. Será formado um júri, por pessoas ligadas a actividades profissionais, fraternais e cívicas, que serão indicadas pela Direcção da U.P.E.C.

As qualidades exigidas ao candidato são:

Ter contribuído para o bom-nome do povo Português.

Ter prestado serviços sem compensação, para o prestigio dos Portugueses na Califórnia ou Nevada.

Ter bom carácter moral e gozar de estima geral na sua comunidade.

Ser membro de qualquer organização Portuguesa que promova na Califórnia ou em Nevada a cultura e tradições de Portugal.

Ser activo em projectos cívicos (promotor ou participante) de que resulte bom entendimento entre Portugueses e Americanos.

As candidaturas devem incluir:

Três cartas de recomendação.

Uma lista de projectos executados pelo candidato.

Artigos de jornal ou qualquer outro material em que se possa basear a candidatura.

Procure na sua localidade um candidato digno de reconhecimento. Não necessita ser membro da U.P.E.C. nem descendente de Portugueses.

Serão entregues $500.00 destinados a qualquer instituição de caridade escolhida pelo premiado.

Serão excluídas toda e qualquer nomeação feita em favor de Funcionários da UPEC, Membros da Direcção e Ex-Presidentes Supremos.
