Bakersfield
you’ve been warned) an experienced traveler as U.P.E.C. Queen 2005/2006. I am willing to take up the challenge to lead the youth to the TOP! Hey guys! Who’s at the top?
If someone were to ask me to describe the youth in 3 words I would definitely have to say we are vibrant, caring, and enthusiastic. I have a plan. A Portuguese plan, one of warmth and loving kindness. My first order of business will be to begin fundraising for the RSD Awareness fund. The new youth board is grateful to have this opportunity. This charity hits me close to home because my close friend has this horrifying disease. She got this disease when she was in 3rd grade. She was having a normal spinal tap done when the doctor slipped and hit a nerve. This single accident affected her life. She is not able to lead a normal life. She can not do anything that might cause her to hurt herself. There is no cure or treatment for this disease. People affected by it are basically told to deal with the pain. But we are different, we are Portuguese, we help more.
I’d like to thank Egidio Almeida, wife Isilda, and Zachary Batista for a job well done. We are proud of you! I’d like to thank my papa and grandma Caron, Dad and Kam, Mom and Scott, Auntie and Jay, Uncle Matt, Joyce and the whole family, Lucy, Phyllis and everyone in Bakersfield, the UPEC and its’ members. Isolete Gracio, Timothy Borges, the home office staff, Natalie and the Batistas’, Kathleen Barrett and the Vargas’, the State Youth Officers and advisors, the youth and the coolest person ever, Angela Seamas; also thank you to every single person who has helped me out.
And Papa, I look forward to traveling with, working with and annoying you throughout the next year. Thank you.
